How To Hop Off The Emotional Rollercoaster of Being a Photographer

I see you.

You started your business and hopped right on the rollercoaster of being a business owner.

Seasons change, clients come and go, and the rollercoaster of being a photographer just goes up and down. We look at our calendar in January and it feel like crickets- so we freak out – we spiral.

But then spring time happens and business starts rolling in- we feel like we are on top of the world.

One day it is the client of your dreams, and the next it is the client from hell.

I am here to tell you- you can hop off the the emotional rollercoaster today.

You are the CEO of your business and that means you get to make the decision and put a stop to the unhealthy cycle that can be seasonal depression or running a portrait business without really knowing how to run your portrait business.

Start Treating Your Business Like A Job | It can be so easy to fall into the habit of looking at your photography business as a side hustle or hobby, but that is dangerous. Shifting your view from hobby to job can make a substantial change to not only how you spend your time working but how you treat your business and the tasks involved moving forward.

Plan in Advance & Create Urgency | Setting an actual plan for yourself financially and professionally inside your business is a great way to keep yourself ready for slow seasons, financial hardships or simply holding yourself accountable year round.

Marketing | I know, marketing is such an intimidating word for many photographers, but trust me when I say, devoting time and effort into your marketing strategy will make significant changes throughout your year. From building a spider web of marketing methods and strategies to implementing those ideas in automated systems will not only keep you on track but also give you a consistent presence even when slow season hits.

These aren’t the only methods you can use to hop off that emotional rollercoaster so many new and current photographers ride on. Tune in to Mindset & Money Mastery for Photographers with Karinda K. and hear all about this topic on Episode 19!

Head over to my podcast for photographers and hear how you can hop off that rollercoaster of being a business owner and learn to enjoy both the highs and lows- and start to create a strategy to avoid getting stuck at the bottom of that rollercoaster.
